Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser Service

I am a fully qualified Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser for road transport.

I hold a VTC for Road (All Classes) which is valid until January 2010.

My DGSA Service is a cost-effective and efficient
alternative to training and employing a full-time Dangerous Goods Adviser

In line with current UK legislation, I will provide the following:

1. Advice on all aspects of the transport of dangerous goods as required
2. Monitor compliance with legal requirements on the safe transport of dangerous goods and related health and safety practices and procedures including the preparation of accident reports
3. Preparation of an annual report on your activities concerning the transport of dangerous goods

In addition, I can provide you with a robust Security Policy and driver training which is required if you handle the newly created category of High Consequence Dangerous Goods.

For a modest annual fee I will act as your DGSA, allowing you to focus on more productive areas of your business. If you are unsure whether or not you require a DGSA
please see below

How do you know if you need a Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser?

Criteria

If any of the following applies to your business you are obliged by law to employ a Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser or sub-contract this work to a suitably qualified third party.
1.) Consign dangerous goods for transport and load the means of transport yourself?
2.) Operate vehicle(s) carrying dangerous goods?
3.) Load or unload dangerous goods while in transit to their final destination*?
(*Excludes consignees who only unload at the final destination)

Penalties

Failure to employ or sub-contract a suitably qualified DGSA will result in prosecution in the event of an incident involving dangerous goods. If convicted, fines range from £400 to £15,000 depending on the nature and severity of the offence.

New Legislation

As a result of the growing international terrorist threat, a new category of dangerous goods, High Consequence Dangerous Goods (HCDG), has recently been created, where the goods have the potential to become a security threat if misused. Thus, all carriers of HCDG are required to have a Security Policy in place and to provide additional security training for all ADR certificated drivers. If you fall in to this category I can develop a Security Plan appropriate to the needs of your business along with security training and proof that this has been carried out.
NB: Please note this service applies to UK only

If you are concerned about any of the above, remember that I can provide you with a
cost-effective and efficient alternative to employing a full-time DGSA
